MAC Vamplify: The Lip Gloss You Never Knew You Needed

MAC’s most popular range of lip glosses have always been their extensive Lip Glass collection which is part of their permanent line.

I have tried a good many of those and although the shade range is really tempting, especially now with its relaunch that includes even more shades and a cool double vial packaging, I struggle with the fact that my long hair always gets stuck to my lips when the wind blows (ok..it sounds more disturbing in words).

But what I really mean is that it has a sticky texture, not in a really bad or uncomfortable way, but it tends to annoy me every now and then. I was aware of the existence of the limited edition Vamplify collection, however I stayed away from it because of the price.

I knew I would eventually give in and end up buying it, and HERE it is! Voila! MAC VAMPLIFY in ANYTHING BUT DEMURE.

This colour makes a great nude for all skin tones.

It comes in a thin, long tube with a long doe foot applicator.

I personally didn’t have issues with the applicator, it allows for precise application, gets into those corners well. Just a little long. Definitely longer than the usual Lip Glass applicator.

As for pigmentation, my was I pleasantly surprised! The swatch shown here is just ONE swipe. Need I say more.

It is an impressive lip gloss formula.

Of course it is a lip gloss so it’s not going to stay on all day like a liquid lipstick. It lasted me through a meal and it was easy to touch up. Overall, it’s a win-win for me because of the awesome pigmentation and moisturising texture.

  • Rating : 4.5 / 5
  • Pros: Does not dry lips, highly pigmented, good shade range.
  • Cons: Price.
  • Would I repurchase? Definitely. I already have my eyes on Fab Tested and Absolute Score (they’re on the Goodbye section online at MAC and not available in stores I believe. However, they just launched a new one called Thunder Kiss as part of the MAC Kiesza collection).
  • Final thoughts: Vamplify is great if you have dry lips like me and can’t handle liquid lipstick formulas but still want a really pigmented lip product with great colour payoff.
