Hello there! I am so happy to be writing my fifth post on this blog for you, and once again it’s on a MAC classic. One for all you matte lovers out there.
Today I give you MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I use the shade Medium Deep. This was the colour match for my NC 44/45 skin.
So that’s what it looks like now after a few months. When it first arrived, it was dome-shaped. If you look at it closely under bright light / sunlight, you will be able to see some sparkle but this does not show up on the skin when applying (in a good way, of course).
The only downside to this powder would be that it does not come with an applicator like the Studio Fix powder. So you’ll have to find your own or use a brush. Mind you, using a brush with this causes fallout. Not an absurd amount but enough to worry me because I love this product so much.
It applies better with a sponge and lighter with a brush. Use a sponge/powder puff for a full coverage finish.
The finish is TRULY matte, starting from medium to full coverage. I have fairly clear skin, but on bad days this is enough to cover all blemishes.
It’s lasting power is really good too, it can last you a full work day with minimal touch-up. I usually use it over my Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation and the finish is a gorgeous, flawless, red carpet-ready complexion.
My poor Studio Fix powder (pic below) was abandoned after I discovered the MSFN, not that there was much of it left anyway. I stayed true and faithful to the Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation for years until I started to run out of it. It is a great matte powder as well, but I like the Mineralize one a whole lot more.
It is going to be a staple for a long, long time to come.
- Rating: 5/5
- Pros: Fabulous matte finish, mirrored compact, magnetic closure.
- Cons: No applicator provided.
- Would I repurchase? A definite yes.
- Final thoughts: This is a beautiful powder with a true matte finish that comes in a great shade range. It is a true MAC must-have for me.
