MAC Fix+: Must Have OR Extra?

How do you decide if you need MAC’s raved-about Fix+ (pronounced as ‘Fix Plus’) in your life?

What MAC says it is?

A lightweight, mineral rich finishing mist that refreshes the skin and finishes makeup. Helps create an even surface for a smooth makeup application. Same Fix + formula with upgraded packaging.

Did it work for me?

Oh yes, it did! This is my very first Fix+ and I’ve been using it every day since I bought it. I love how it brings everything together. You don’t necessarily have to be using a full face of makeup to use this spray.

I feel put together when I use it and it’s nice spritzing it all over your face before going out. You don’t feel it on your face once it’s dried. It gives a smooth overall appearance. Another thing I love about it is that you can use it mid-day or after a few hours to refresh your makeup / complexion. It brings me life.

If you’re not used to using any sort of setting spray, you’re going to love this one. It invisibly sets your face to look a tad bit more flawless and ready.

You can also use it prior to makeup application but I’ve not tried that yet. You can even use it over powder or on bare skin.

Now, for a little story about me and my Fix+.

I put on my makeup at 8 am last Thursday and had to go to a place about an hour’s drive from my home. When I came back, I was going to go on a bike ride (not just any bike ride, on a big, fast bike ride !), so I spritzed on my Fix+ to my heart’s content and set off on that journey.

When I came home about 4 hours later, my face still looked fresh and fab, even after wearing a full face helmet under the blazing sun! You have no idea what the Malaysian sun is like!

I was, in Jeffree’s term, Shook.

Packaging

Here’s what the box it comes in looks like. Its got some shimmer on it and its glossy unlike the standard, matte black MAC packaging (pic below).

Here’s what the bottle itself looks like (pic below), this is the 100 ml bottle. It also comes in a Sized-To-Go 30 ml travel-friendly option and the new MAC Work It Out collection has scented versions (Lavender, Rose and Coconut) of the sized-to-go Fix+.

It is really convenient that the pump can be locked so you don’t have to worry about any accidents.

The virgin Fix+ is clear and does not really have any scent (not in a bad way), it just smells like a setting spray.

Now that you have seen the virgin Fix+, here is my tweaked version of it.

If you really want to see how stunning it looks when you shake the bottle, head on over to my Instagram (beautyintheheat_) as I am unable to upload a video here.

I added MAC’s Pigment in Tan which I wrote about a while ago. I only added a tiny bit to get this effect. However, the shine is not so obvious on the skin so you don’t have to worry about looking all glittery.

When not in use, the pigment settles at the bottom of the bottle and you just shake it up before use, and watch the pigment swirl around magically.

  • Rating5 / 5
  • Pros: Pump can be locked, reasonable pricing, long-wearing & visible effects, does what it says, generous product size.
  • Cons: Nothing really.
  • Would I repurchase? Yes, I think everyone who is looking to add some oomph to your makeup routine will love this. It is one product that adds quality to your final results.
  • Final thoughts: It is an interesting product with many functions. I forgot to mention that I sprayed it on my brush before applying Pigment and the effect was more dramatic! Many use it to wet their brushes before applying various products.

I hope you enjoyed this post and got some useful information out of it! Keep sparkling and spritzing till we meet again xx
