The millionaire dollar question all makeup enthusiasts of all different skin tones are always asking, how to achieve a perfect nude lip?
How do you create the perfect nude lip anyway?
I might have just found the one-size-fits-all answer.
I have put together a combination of 5 of MAC’s most loved lip formulas to help you create your very own, perfect nude lip combo.
Here’s what you will need.
- Whirl Lip Pencil. The pencil that I have is limited edition from the MAC Caitlyn Jenner collection. But, fret not as this colour (Whirl) is part of their permanent lip pencil line.
Here’s what it looks like (slideshow below).
I was lucky enough to get my hands on this pencil before it sold out. It costs the same as the Lip Pencil from their permanent line (RM 76) but looks much more bomb than the usual pencil.
It has a gold cap and comes in a gold box to match.
It is limited edition and sold out now I believe. But you can still get Whirl from the permanent line.
MAC describes the colour as a dirty rose.
This colour can be worn on its own, topped off with some gloss or worn under Velvet Teddy for the best nude combo EVER.
Truly, I never believed there was such a thing as the ‘perfect nude lip’ because I have searched long and hard (trust me, I have gone great lengths to find it) but had no luck.
I actually ordered this because it was so pretty and I tried it under Velvet Teddy (which on its own is too light for me, I am an NC45) and it was simply the best combo ever.
- MAC Lipglass in Spite
Spite was one of those that I came across by accident on the Goodbyes sections and I am so glad I gave it a chance.
I love to wear it on its own. MAC describes it as a muted plum-taupe brown. It makes your lips look so natural, yet amazing and glam (swatch towards the end of the post).
It suits all skin tones as a Your-Lips-But-Better shade.
- MAC Vamplify in Anything But Demure
Next up is my favourite Vamplify in Anything But Demure which I also found in the Goodbyes section. It’s discounted online in the US, but it still costs a lot in Malaysia, specifically RM 95.
I know that is a lot of money for a lipgloss but its well worth it because this gloss is pigmented as anything, in fact it could rival a liquid lipstick in the pigmentation department and so hydrating as well!
Anything But Demure is described as a mauvey nude (swatch towards the end of the post).
I wish we had discounts over here too, I would buy a few more. You can find it HERE.
- Velvet Teddy from MAC’s Shadescents collection
I could never understand what all the hype was about until I tried this lipstick myself!
Velvet Teddy is a MUST have if you love lipstick and it now comes in a chic case as part of MAC’s Shadescents collection. Its costs the same as the one in the permanent line, so you don’t have to pay more for the cool matching packaging.
If you’re shopping online in Malaysia, you can find it HERE.
Velvet Teddy is a matte lipstick that is described as a deep-tone beige.
Whirl Lip Pencil and Velvet Teddy are a match made in heaven, MAC’s Spice Lip Pencil also goes well with it and WOC will love MAC’s Chestnut Lip Pencil or Bittersweet Pro Longwear Lip Pencil paired with this lipstick.
- MAC Clear Lipglass
MAC’s Clear Lipglass is probably my favourite one of all, simply because it can be worn all day, every day on top of anything and with everything.
How much better can it get.
I usually wear this gorgeous clear gloss on my bare, moisturised lips and it looks fabulous. Another good tip would be to wear it over your favourite lip liner or even over your lipstick for a high-shine finish.
Time for swatches!
I hope you enjoyed this post and got some good ideas on what to get on your quest to create the ‘perfect nude lip! Let me know if you know of other fabulous products that would suit all skin tones, till we meet again Xx
