Facial Cleansing Oils: The Body Shop vs MAC

Have you heard of the hottest makeup remover in town?

Yes, it’s none other than the much raved about Cleansing Oil that many brands have put out quite recently.

These oils supposedly can remove all makeup, even waterproof makeup. Do you think they can?

I was so curious to try one out since I’ve never before used a Cleansing Oil.

An oil for cleansing, really?

That’s what I thought too, at first.

So I went ahead and got The Body Shop’s Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil and I also have a sample of MAC’s Cleanse Off Oil.

The Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil

Here’s the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop.

It’s pretty and calming to look at but that’s not what we are here for, are we?

Can it really remove waterproof makeup as well as it says it can? Let’s find out together.

This oil retails for RM 75 in Malaysia, which normally might be considered a little steep over here.

I got it at 30% off during the online sale at The Body Shop Malaysia.

My products arrived within 3 days of purchase. Their website is pretty straight forward too, you can’t go wrong.

This product is made in the U.K. , just like the rest of their products.

MAC Cleanse Off Oil

And here’s my sample size of MAC’s Cleanse Off Oil. It’s made in Japan.

The full size retails for RM 120.

 Verdict

Both the Cleansing Oil’s performed similarly to remove waterproof makeup.

They are able to remove waterproof makeup effectively.

But when you are using products that are as long lasting as MAC’s Liquidlast Liner, it might take double the work.

However, I find that the The Body Shop’s Cleansing Oil actually leaves the skin smooth and well-cleansed at the end as compared to MAC’s.

MAC’s feels only like a remover but not like a cleanser but the The Body Shop’s doubles as a cleanser and I love how my skin feels afterwards. So silky and hydrated.

How?

When I use makeup, I wash my face using The Body Shop’s Cleansing Oil first, followed by the Vitamin E Gentle Face Wash (pic below).

I find that using both products work better for a deeper clean.

I wouldn’t say it removes a 100% of the dirt from your face.

I must be honest with you, musn’t I? Because I still see some dirt on the cotton pad when I use The Body Shop’s Vitamin E toner, after cleansing.

I do like how my skin feels ever since I started using the Cleansing Oil. It feels more hydrated.

It feels like an oil but washes off easily with water and leaves the face silky to the touch.

You can find MAC’s Cleanse Off Oil online in Malaysia, HERE and The Body Shop’s Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil, HERE.

The rest of the products from my haul.
